Who We Are
About Forward For Christ Baptist Church

Founded in 1998, Forward for Christ Baptist Church is an independent, Bible-believing congregation located just north of Luray, VA. We exist to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, preach the Gospel without compromise, and help believers grow in grace and truth through sound doctrine.

Our church is committed to the authority of the King James Bible, the preaching of the cross, and the building up of strong families rooted in faith. We believe in old-fashioned worship, sincere fellowship, and a heart for missions—both across the street and around the world. Whether you're new to the area, seeking a church home, or looking for answers from God's Word, we welcome you to visit and experience what it means to move forward for Christ.

Our By-Laws & Beliefs

OUR BY-LAWS
Our By-Laws preserve and secure the principles of our faith, and define the organization of our church for effective decision making and operations. They preserve the liberties of each individual church member and the freedom of action of this body in its relation to other churches.

OUR BELIEFS
We believe the basis of the Christian faith is the Bible, which is the only inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Exodus 20:2-3; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 10:30; I Timothy 2:5; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 John 5:7; Ephesians 4:4-6)

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His Virgin Birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory.
(Matthew 1:18; Philippians 2:6-8; Romans 3:24-26; Galatians 2:16; Colossians 1:15-20; Romans 5:1-9; John 11:25; Philippians 3:10; Matthew 28:6-7; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 John 2:1; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13)

We believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. His body, which is composed of all people, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith. God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement.
(Ephesians 1:22-23; Hebrews 10:23-25; Acts 16:5)

We believe the Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips believer's personal growth and service to the body.
(Acts 2:32-38; 1 Corinthians 12:3; 1 Corinthians 12:14-27)

We believe humans were originally created in the image of God. However, they sinned and their sin has alienated them from their Creator. The only way to a relationship with God is through trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and repentance from sin. Salvation comes only through God’s saving grace -- not human effort -- and must be received personally by repentance and faith.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8-10; John 3:3-5; Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:5-7; John 1:12-13; John 14:6)

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. They who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
(1 Corinthians 15:21-23; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:11-15; Matthew 25:32-34)

We believe that the ordinances of the Church, given by our Lord, are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Baptism is by immersion. The Lord’s supper is an important act of remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
(Acts 22:16; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:38; Matthew 3:16; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us."
(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)

We believe in the Priesthood of Believers. Every believer in Jesus Christ has direct access to God through Jesus Christ with no mediator other than Christ.  The believer is privileged to read and interpret the Scriptures as guided by the Holy Spirit.
(1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:16; John 14:13-14; 1 John 1:9; Hebrews 9:12-24; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20)

A Message from Our Pastor

Hello Friends! My name is Josh Parlett, and it is my great joy and privilege to serve as Pastor of Forward For Christ Baptist Church. God is truly blessing us at FFCBC.

We would love for you to be a part of this spirit-filled and growing church. You will find a loving and caring body of believers that will welcome you with open arms. It is our desire to love the Lord with all our heart and serve Him with great gladness and joy

At FFCBC you will find a Bible Teaching ministry for every member of your family. We believe God gave us His inspired, inerrant word to be our guide for all of our lives. His Word is clear about salvation. “Ye must be born again.” “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” His word is clear on the church. “He loved it and died for it.” His plan is for all believers to be actively involved in a church where they can grow, be blessed and be used of God to reach and train others.

At FFCBC you will find a great music program that will lift your heart toward God and give you opportunity to use your talents for Him. You will find a praying people that will share your burdens and joys. You will find exciting youth and teen ministry. Our kids have youth choirs and many special activities including outreach and camps. You will find opportunities for fellowship for your whole family. The church offers many opportunities for fun, food and fellowship.

The Lord called me to Pastor FFCBC in July of 2020. My first sermon was delivered at FFCBC on September 6, 2020. The Lord has poured His blessings out since that Sunday morning, and we have seen a steady increase not just in attendance but in Salvations, Baptisms, Membership, Spiritual Growth and Faithfulness. We have seen a major expansion of the Sanctuary, along with the addition of classroom space and a fellowship hall expansion during our time at FFCBC. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

It is a great privilege to labor for the Lord alongside my bride, Rachel and our three children Lydia (19), Ella (17), and Nevin (18).

I am currently Bi-Vocational and have been a Construction Manager at the Virginia Department of Transportation since July of 2000.

We would consider it an honor if you choose to attend any of our services at FFCBC. You will be greeted with a friendly smile and a warm handshake. If I can answer any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at 540-244-1655.

For His Service,
Pastor Josh Parlett
